In just eleven days of operation, Twin Lions LLC has experienced the kind of beginning entrepreneurs quietly hope for but never presume—a true proof of concept marked not only by enthusiasm, but by consistent and measurable sales. Tobacco Tuesday at Slick's Bar has become more than an event; it has become a gathering point where conversation, craftsmanship, and community intersect. Beyond the barstools and handshakes, word-of-mouth has carried further than any advertisement ever could—through website inquiries, social media outreach, and invitations to host intimate pop-up experiences at private gatherings. The early momentum affirms that premium tobacco, when offered with reverence and knowledge, still commands respect. This foundation would not stand as firmly without the steadfast support of Billy and Sheila at Slick’s Bar, nor without the encouragement of the many individuals in Jordan’s life who have urged him to pursue his vision with courage and conviction.
The history of cigars in America—stretching from 1762 through revolutions, reconstruction, industrial expansion, and into the modern era—reveals a story not merely of tobacco, but of identity, politics, and legacy. Influenced deeply by America's Cigar Story: The History, Politics, and Legacy of Cigars from 1762 to the Modern Era, Magnum Opus History Edition by Sebastian Saviano, Jordan approaches this craft as both student and steward. His reach may be modest today, but so too were the beginnings of the great cigar houses whose names now echo through humidors worldwide. With mentorship and camaraderie from Tim, Zach, and Jen at V Cut Lounge—whose guidance in fine tobacco and spirits has sharpened both palate and perspective—Twin Lions LLC stands rooted in tradition while looking firmly toward growth.
There is, as with any worthy endeavor, nowhere to go but upward. The American Dream has always been the realization of one’s goals through discipline, gratitude, and relentless belief in the work itself. In these first eleven days, Twin Lions LLC is not merely selling cigars; it is building a narrative—one humbly begun, historically grounded, and profoundly optimistic. The future holds expansion, deeper relationships, and broader horizons. For those seeking premium tobacco presented with scholarship, sincerity, and heart, this is only the opening chapter.
Three months.
It’s hard to believe that what started as an idea, a few boxes of cigars, and a willingness to take a chance has now grown into something far bigger than I ever expected. In just three short months, we've built not only a business, but a name that people are beginning to recognize for quality products, honest service, and a genuine appreciation for premium tobacco.
Like every small business, there are skinny sales days and there are fat sales days. Anyone who has ever put their own money, time, and reputation on the line knows exactly what I'm talking about. Thankfully, these first three months have brought a lot more fat days than skinny ones, and for that I am incredibly grateful.
What has surprised me most isn't the cigars we've sold—it's the people we've met. The regulars who stop in aren't just bar regulars. They're friends, neighbors, working folks, riders, tradesmen, veterans, retirees, and everyday people who enjoy sitting down, sharing stories, and lighting up a quality cigar at the end of a long day. The conversations, laughter, and camaraderie have become every bit as important as the tobacco itself.
As for the cigars, it's become clear that the folks around here know good tobacco when they find it. The products coming from Drew Estate continue to lead the pack, with favorites from Deadwood Tobacco Company and Tabak finding their way into more hands than just about anything else in the humidor. Whether it's the sweet and flavorful character of the Deadwood line or the rich coffee-infused experience of Tabak, those cigars have become staples for many of our customers.
Most importantly, none of this would have happened without Slick's Bar. They gave me a home, an opportunity, and the room to grow something that I truly believe in. Their support, friendship, and willingness to welcome this venture into their establishment have been invaluable. Small businesses succeed when communities support one another, and Slick's has been a perfect example of that principle in action.
To everyone who has purchased a cigar, shared a post, brought a friend, sat down for a smoke, or simply offered words of encouragement—thank you. Three months in, we're just getting started, and I couldn't be more excited for what comes next.
Here's to good cigars, good people, and many more fat days ahead.
